A sculpture of a human figure moving extremely fast.
In this series of semi-abstract stainless steel sculptures, I pick subjects from the real world (a curled up dog, a motorcycle racer), the overall shapes are self contained and self standing.
To make the “220 mph” sculpture I modelled a racer and then smoothed the hell out of it in order to blur the distinction between the person and his machine.
I use polished stainless steel as a way of avoiding any colour or texture, keeping it all about the shape.
Cast stainless steel.
